Modern dance has increasingly been incorporating acrobatic elements to styles such as Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and is even becoming a genre of its own in some dance competitions.
Studying the correct strengthening, flexibility and technique for basic to advanced acrobatic movements is very important to avoid injury and risk. Many children see the moves on various social media platforms or learn from friends and then practice the moves themselves. This can be very dangerous and it is highly recommended to seek formal training if your child seems keen to learn acrobatics.
Our Acro classes are designed for the needs of dancers and whilst they can be taken alone as a singular class, they have more relevance if the student also dances.
Ages are less important than skill level so students must be guided by the teachers as to the suitable level. Even if they have some advanced skills the teacher will need to assess and modify any incorrect technique that the student may have developed.
